Can't have great "sleep quality" if you can't get to sleep, and cannabis is (personally) unmatched for it
Kevin_Flynn 21 hours ago [-]
This all depends on how one defines "sleep quality."
Alcoholics will tell you they slept great.
Sleep is what, the polar opposite of conscious activity ? That sort of negates the concept of "doing something" to get better sleep.
The best sleep you are ever going to get is to lay down in quiet room with no light, noise, or other distractions, including mental ones, and simply do nothing.
Where you find that quiet room ... I have no idea.
Joking aside, I use federal/state legal hemp at times to achieve hyperfocus. A substance that provides hyperfocus is not something I would reach for to provide better sleep.

Did they control for strain? Doesn't look like it, even sativa vs indica makes a difference in any of these studies, let alone the canaboids.
They are missing an important variable and all results should be taken with necessary salt dosages.

You bring up a good point.
People that don't use it, but have tried it, tell me it "puts them to sleep."
For myself, it wakes me up.
I think it all depends on the users baseline biology as well as the strain, so blanket statements like the study headline seem difficult to actually test for.

indica is the strain for chilling and sleeping
sativa is the strain for heading deep thoughts

also many people who use cannabis regularly report that they no longer dream. kinda spooky, but could be useful if you suffer from night terrors.

This is because you dream in REM sleep (stage 4). Cannabis increases the length of stage 3, and decreases the length of stage 4.

Can confirm. Having dreams again is one of the biggest ups of stopping smoking this crap.
weezing 19 hours ago [-]
Fucking up your REM is definitely not associated with better sleep quality. I've smoked for 10 years and when I finally snapped out of it and stopped my sleep quality skyrocketed. Not smoking this shit is the best you can do to yourself.
